ROV Services in PNG

Project: Urgent ROV services (classified job), off the coast of Kavieng, New Ireland Provence, Papua New Guinea (PNG) for the Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department, A.C.T.

On Wednesday morning, 1st of June 2011, Dive Works was running dive operations in southern Bass Strait off the top of Tasmania when a call was received from the Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department in the A.C.T. There was an urgent requirement for ROV services off the coast of Kavieng, New Ireland Provence in Papua New Guinea. Dive Works responded to this urgent request and by Thursday morning 1000 hrs (within 48 hours) another call was received for the go ahead, resulting in a team being mobilised. By 1600 hrs that evening the Dive Works ROV equipment was already deployed for PNG by freight.

On Friday 3rd of June, Dive Works ROV personnel arrived at Port Moresby at 1830 hrs. The ROV equipment arrived the following day (1400 hrs) - quickly cleared by customs. One of the ROV personnel flew out to Kavieng with a Navy Personnel to inspect the Navy ship for deployment and recovery of the ROV.

On Sunday 5th of June the ROV, equipment, ROV pilot and representatives of the Australian High Commission flew to Kavieng and transported the ROV straight to the Navy ship for mobilisation. Monday morning, the ship departed Kavieng at 0600 hrs to commence ROV operations for the following two days. And was then back in Kavieng at 1830 hrs. On Tuesday the 7th, the ROV equipment was demobilised off the ship where ROV and personnel left Kavieng for Port Moresby. Thursday the 9th, Dive Works personnel returned back to Tasmania, Australia.

Once again Dive Works shows how quickly the ROV and personnel can be mobilised, for any job anywhere in the world.
